WHY USE EXPANTION JOINTS?
The main reasons for the detachment of tiles when expansion joints are missing:
a) different dilatometric behaviour between tile surfaces subjected to solar irradiation and the fixing mortar;
b) concrete shrinkage during cure;
c) setting of load-bearing structures.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES:
Use expantion joints at least every 15 m2 of tiled surface.
